Alexis's Story...

My strong, independent mother who worked as a flight attendant raised me. She was gone a lot and I had live-in nannies during my first 8 years. It was tough not having my mom around. My father, who currently lives in Florida where I was born, was not as involved with my life but we do keep in touch and see each other a few times a year.

I have two half-sisters, Carli from my mother and stepfather, and Gianna from my father and stepmother. I love my sisters and spend as much time as I can with them. My stepfather met my mom when I was 8 yrs. old and from then on, he treated me like his own birth child. He has always been there during the good times and bad. One time when I was 14 yrs. old, my mom and I had an argument and I walked out of the house. My stepfather spent hours looking for me. Finally, he found me in the neighbor’s bushes and we both laugh about it to this day.

I spent my first year in college at the University of Arizona in Tucson. Arizona was a bit too far away from my family so I returned to Michigan and attended Michigan State University. It was there I decided I wanted to pursue a career in hotels because I love to travel. I spent the first four years after graduation in San Diego California. It was always sunny and I spent a lot of time on the beach. Then in 2004, I decided to move to Denver Colorado where I had some longtime friends. I loved Colorado and the mountains. There are lots of outdoor activities like camping, hiking and one of my favorite pastimes, riding on Harley motorcycles. My best friend Amanda and I would travel to Sturgis South Dakota every August for the Sturgis Biker Rally, still some of my fondest memories.

In 2010, my dream job of working with professional sports became available and I had to relocate to New York City. It was a huge change from Denver. Living in New York City taught me a lot, especially about being single and independent. I learned to enjoy my alone time and get to know who I really am.

After two long years in New York City, I was able to move home back to Michigan. Right after I moved home in 2012, I met Robb on a dating site. More about that later….

I have always had pets but cats are my favorite. Currently we have two female Lynx Point Siamese cats – Millie and Maggie. They came from different litters but we rescued them from the same foundation. They love to play all day with each other. We gave them names that start with “M” because of the M on their foreheads. They always put a smile on our faces.

I love music, any kind of music. During my teens and early 20’s I spent a lot of time at concerts. I have seen Dave Matthews Band over 100 times. My friends and I followed them around for 2 summers, traveling by car to New Orleans, Indiana, Ohio, Virginia, New York and Milwaukee. Now I listen to more classic rock and country. When I lived in Denver, I became a huge fan of country. Being from Michigan I love Kid Rock!

I have a “Type A” personality, which sometimes can be good and bad. I always have a clean house, and I never procrastinate. Sometimes it drives Robb crazy because he is so laid back, which is one of the things I love about him.

I was raised Catholic and attended private Catholic grade school and high school. I did not practice in college and for some years after. I had a hard time with some of the Catholic beliefs. I relate to other religions such as Buddhism and I believe in Karma. When I lived in Denver, I started to go to church again and continue to do so most weeks now.  As I grow older, I find myself coming back to the Catholic religion although I still disagree with some of the teachings.

My life has greatly changed being a mother. Julian is a miracle and I cherish each day with him. In April 2021 after 20 years in the hospitality industry I finally retired to be a full-time mom. More to come about Julian and our journey becoming parents.
